I just got Cubed!!!

Fact: There are 43 Quintillion combinations for arranging a Rubik’s Cube.

Many people own a Rubik’s cube, the 3-D puzzle. The first person to solve a Rubik’s Cube spent a month struggling to unscramble it. It was the puzzle’s creator, the Hungarian architecture professor named Erno Rubik. When he invented the cube in 1974, he wasn’t sure it could ever be solved. Mathematicians later calculated that there are 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 ways to arrange the squares, but just one of those combinations is correct. Yes! That many!!

Rubik’s cubes are not only challenging and fun, but they help us to learn as well. I have always been a person who wants to pursue things which are not being done by the majority hence I bought my first cube just to see what the fuss was about. When I solved it for the first time it took me a whole day. But after regular practice, the time for solving a 3*3 Rubik’s cube was reduced below 60 seconds and number of algorithms increased. Yusheng Du, a Chinese Rubik's Cube enthusiast, solved a standard 3x3x3 cube in an astonishing 3.47 seconds. So there is always a chance to improve in it and that’s the beauty of it.

Fact: Only 5.8% of total population of the world can solve the Rubik’s cube.

By solving it you can be among this 5.8 % people and that sounds quite great. Solving your first ever Rubik’s cube will give you a great sense of accomplishment and utter relief.

Fact: Sales of Rubik’s cube increased globally after Will Smith’s character seen solving the cube in movie “The Pursuit of Happyness”.

  • Improves Patience

This puzzle requires perseverance, ability to focus and concentration. It could take hours to solve or it could end up on a shelf. You must sit, think, twist. Then sit, think, twist again and again. Solving cube leads to a sense of achievement and satisfaction. In real life if some tasks are difficult and time consuming cubers have the confidence to complete it.

Fact: Rubik’s Cube is the best-selling toy of all time.

Physical Benefits:

  • Improves Reflexes

When you consider memorizing number of algorithms while twisting the cube and solving the puzzle in under 30-60 seconds, you will appreciate how fast your fingers can move. This will help you in identifying items quickly and notice color faster.

It gives fingers dexterity and agility.

Continue moving of your fingers to twist the cube and apply the algorithm for improving speed help your fingers to work well and this will help you in other task as well like typing, playing piano, guitar etc.

It improves your hand eye coordination.

Fact: If you turn a Rubik’s cube once every second, it would take you 1.4 Trillion years to go through all the permutations.

The feeling of solving a cube cannot be described in words. At first it seems impossible to solve it, after trying for some time you feel that it is fun and in no time you will develop this as a hobby. Somehow it makes you stand out in the crowd.
